With the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, first presented in 2003, the Daimler-Benz AG and the british sports cars builder McLaren crowned off their successful cooperation in the Formula 1. Being the world’s eldest and one of the most significant car company in the world, Mercedes-Benz had built several truly legendary cars. One of them is the SLR racing car from the 1950s. McLaren’s history with the larger-than-life F1 and numerous very successful racing cars is equally great and guarantees for vast experience in the field.

Both companies developed the SLR McLaren as an exclusive super sports car and to demonstrate the technically doable. The car was adherent with the style of its predecessors from the 1950s, among other details these are the gullwing doors opening forward-upwards and the side vents. At the same time, it transferred up-to-date materials and technologies from the racetracks onto the road and showed design elements typical for the Formula 1-race cars of its time.

The most prominent of these details is the impressive front end that clearly reminds of the Formula 1-racers and also took over the Formula 1 front wing design into its design language.

This was the first time that the cumulated knowledge of Mercedes-Benz’ and McLaren’s engineers was used for a serial car. The SLR combines many state-of-the-art production methods and techniques. The complete bodyshell as well as the doors, hoods and body itself are made from a corrosion-resistant carbon composite. The car also is equipped with a solid monocoque cabin like those used in the Formula 1 and a powerful carbon-ceramics brake system. In addition, six airbags, the carbon crash structures in the front, a-pillars that are reinforced by steel and two solid roll bars provide high passenger security.

A special technical feature is the active aerodynamics of the SLR. The rear spoiler is integrated into the hood and comes out once the car reaches 95 km/h. In case of a hard braking maneuvers, the spoiler is moving to a full upright position to further increase the braking effect. This system had been used by Mercedes-Benz back in 1952 within the legendary W194, the very first version of the gullwing.

Finally in 2007, the long waited for SLR Roadster was introduced. The carbon body had been further developed to achieve top-level torsional stiffness. A special challenge was the soft top which had to be totally adapted to top speeds, as the roadster performs on an impressive level comparable to the coupé.

Powered by a handmade 5.5-liter eight-cylinder motor with 626 PS (460 kW) made by AMG, the SLR Roadster speeds up from 0 to 100 km/h within 3.8 seconds. Its maximum speed is 332 km/h. This means that until today, the SLR Roadster is one of the fastest roadsters in the world.

In total, just 2,157 of all versions of Mercedes-Benz SLR have been delivered.

14 different colours were available for the SLR Roadster. All of them had been especially developed for the SLR and could not be ordered with any other model. The buyer could choose from 13 interior colours and three different rims.

The car on offer here has been delivered to the Netherlands on October 22, 2007.

It has a special touch due to its noble combination of colours – a dark blue paint in „Crystal Digenit Blau Metallic“ and an in interior from semi-aniline leather in beige (code L11).

Adding to this, the car has special extras as follows:

- 19’’ turbine rims (R37)
- 19’’ brake system with brake calipers in red (U28)
- driver’s and co-driver’s seat in size XL (U95 und U97)
- doormats with leather edge in interior colour (L32)
